The Daily Deseret — Monday, Oct. 26, 2026

Good morning! Today's theme is "there is hope in thine end": this week's Jeremiah reading, a rescue on the Wyoming trail, and a BYU team regrouping after a hard loss. Here's your quick dose of faith, news, and fun.

📖 This Week in Come, Follow Me: Jeremiah

This week's study covers Jeremiah 31–33 and 36–39 and Lamentations 1 and 3, including the Lord's promise that He will write His law on the hearts of His people (Jeremiah 31:33). Church News gathered what leaders have taught about these chapters, from "is there any thing too hard for me?" to "I have loved thee with an everlasting love" (Church News).

🗞️ This Morning in the Church

Two new stakes. New stakes were created in Kenema, Sierra Leone, and Lagos, Nigeria, and 18 stake presidencies were reorganized from Argentina to Washington (Church News).

"Always remember Him." At the Church History Symposium on Friday, Church historian Elder Kyle S. McKay said memorials should help people see the Lord's hand: "In all your remembering, always remember Him" (Church News).

💬 Prophetic Words

"Jesus Christ is the 'hope in thine end.' Nothing we have or have not done is beyond the reach of His infinite and eternal sacrifice. He is the reason why it is never the end of our story."

📜 On This Day

Oct. 26, 1856: George D. Grant's rescue party, sent by Brigham Young to find the late-season handcart and wagon companies, reached Fort Seminoe in Wyoming. Grant sent three riders ahead to search the trail; after four anxious days, word came that the companies had been found (Church History Sites).

📖 Doctrine Deep-Dive: Nothing too hard for the Lord

Jeremiah prayed, "Ah Lord God! ... there is nothing too hard for thee," and the Lord answered, "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?" (Jeremiah 32:17, 27). To a weeping people He promised, "There is hope in thine end ... thy children shall come again to their own border" (Jeremiah 31:16–17).

Reflect: What feels "too hard" this week that you can hand to the Lord?

🏛️ Temple of the Day: Star Valley Wyoming Temple

In the late 1870s, Apostle Moses Thatcher named Star Valley "the star of all valleys" and prophesied a temple there. Elder David A. Bednar dedicated it on Oct. 30, 2016, ten years ago this Friday. Sister Susan Bednar's father, Kay Robinson, attended on his 90th birthday (official temple page, Church News Almanac).

❓ Daily Trivia

Yesterday's answer: Billings Montana. Before the Cody Wyoming Temple, the closest house of the Lord was the Billings Montana Temple, about a two-hour drive from Cody (Church News).

Today’s question: In this week's reading, which king of Judah cut Jeremiah's scroll with a penknife and burned it in the fire?
